Projects
The Women’s Irish Network raises funds throughout the year for the Irish Youth Foundation. The monies raised are donated to specific groups who assist Irish women and children her in the UK. Since the founding of the network we have raised and donated £300,000 to the IYF.
London Irish Women’s Centre
The monies donated to this organisation go towards the development of the Advice Outreach service to work alongside the existing culturally sensitive Counselling and Advice service for young disadvantaged Irish women in Greater London. London Irish Women’s Centre aims to provide specialist advice service tailored to individual needs, information, counselling, group work and outreach work with women of Irish origin and descent.
New Horizon Youth Centre, London
The monies awarded for the Women’s Open Space – Irish Project: to provide a culturally sensitive service to help young Irish women involved in drug abuse and prostitution in the Camden/Kings Cross area, combining outreach work and in-house support and advocacy.
Solace Women’s Aid
Monies awarded towards the salary for a specialist Children’s Worker at the Solas Anois refuge. This is a specialist service within a larger organisation, which enables Irish women and children escape domestic violence. There is a wide range of services including a Children’s Service, a Floating Support Scheme, a Parenting Project and a Legal and Advice Service. We also support the Annual play scheme and Summer Holday for the Solas Anois refuge.
Immigrant Counselling and Psychotherapy (ICAP), London
The monies awarded go towards the provision of counselling and psychotherapy to the parents of young Irish people and children. Icap provides individuals and groups with culturally sensitive, weekly open- ended psychotherapy, particularly the Irish community in Britain.
