IRISH CHAPLAINCY IN BRITAIN

2015 IYF Grant was awarded for Young Irish Women in Prison: funding towards the continuation of the work of the part-time prison visitor/caseworker for 2 female prisons (HMP Bronzefield in SW London and HMP Send, near Woking, Surrey).

The project started in 2012 providing the only culturally appropriate support available for young Irish women in prison, many of whom have special needs involving children and family issues.

Many have poor educational standards and parenting skills, some also have problems associated with drink and drug addiction.

The Irish Chaplaincy is a leading and innovative charity that provides high-quality services and support to excluded, vulnerable and isolated members of the Irish community in Britain through three distinct projects: Older Persons Outreach, Travellers Outreach and the Irish Council for Prisoners Overseas.
