Irish women in fashion: Ruby Slevin, Niamh O’Donoghue and Nicki Hoyne

  • Banshee of Savile Row Atelier, 13 Savile Row London, England, W1S 3NE United Kingdom (map)

Join us for an evening of reflections and anecdotes on how three Irish women have carved a path for themselves in the fashion world in London.

Ruby Slevin founded Banshee of Savile Row in 2019 with vision of combining traditional bespoke Savile Row construction with contemporary female tailoring. The name is inspired by powerful female symbolism and Irish mysticism. Banshee was the first women’s bespoke tailoring house on Savile Row to show at London Fashion Week in 2021, and became a member of the British Fashion Council in 2022.

Niamh O’ Donoghue is a writer, editor, social media expert and content strategist based between the UK and Ireland. She is currently heading up editorial and social at Victoria Beckham. Her work is primarily focused on fashion and culture, with an emphasis on sustainability, future technologies and market trends. She has previously held roles at British Vogue and Drest, co-hosted the ‘Back Row’ podcast and publishes a weekly career and industry-focused newsletter called ‘File Under’.

Nicki Hoyne launched Nicki Hoyne, a slow fashion footwear and handbag brand designed in Ireland and handmade in Spain. “I want people to celebrate and cherish fashion, not consume it and throw it away”. Her designs are unique, high quality and built on a foundation of sustainability. Nicki is nominated as Footwear Designer of the Year and Best New Brand at the Drapers Footwear Awards 2023 and "One To Watch" at the Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards 2023. The collection has shipped to 12 countries, featured at Brown Thomas Create in 2021 & 2022.
